Iran has been hit by two strong "earthquakes" early on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Two earthquakes have been detected in the southwestern part of the country near the Bushehr nuclear facility.

Preliminary reports show the first quake was recorded magnitude 5.5 and the second was a 4.9.

The earthquakes have occurred on the same day the Iranian regime launched missiles attacks against US troops at military bases in Iraq in the early hours of Wednesday.

Iran says it launched strikes as retaliation for the U.S. airstrike that killed top Iranian terrorist Gen. Qassem Soleimani early Friday morning.

Iranian state-run IRNA news also warned that Iran has another 100 targets planned in the region if Washington takes any retaliatory measures, threatening it may also attack Israel and even Dubai.

After the missile attack, 179 people died in a Ukraine International Airlines plane crash that went down near Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Dozens of mourners were also killed Tuesday during a stampede at terror chief Soleimani’s funeral, state media reported.

There is no evidence that the earthquake or the plane crash were related to the attacks.

Fox News's Benjamin Hall reported: "BREAKING: 2 Strong ‘Earthquakes’ Have Struck Iran In The Past 2 Hours; The First a Preliminary Magnitude 5.5 & The Second a 4.9 – USGS”

Fox News anchor Heather Childers also tweeted: “As if tonight’s Iranian missile strikes in Iraq weren’t enough- Ukraine plane crashes taking off from Tehran Airport- AND reports coming in that a 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck near #Iran’s #Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.”

The Strategic Sentinel tweeted: “A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck near #Iran’s #Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.

"The depth and epicenter indicate it was a natural event and unrelated to this evenings events. A similar earthquake struck in late December. USGS report enclosed.”

There have been no reported injuries or damage from the latest earthquakes.

A magnitude 5.9 quake that hit the northwestern part of the country in November killed five people and injured more than 300 others.

In 2003, 26,000 people died after a magnitude 6.6 earthquake in the historic city of Bam.

Iran lies on major seismic faults and has an average of one earthquake per day.
