Sen. Lindsey Graham warned President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani on his recent claims he has proof the Trump impeachment investigation was a “cover-up” by Democrats.

The South Carolina Republican cautioned against making explosives accusations without evidence to back it up.

"I don't know what Rudy's got, but I'm going to send him a letter. If you're going to go on national television and tell the country that you've found evidence of a cover-up, then I hope you know what you're talking about,” Graham told reporters.

"I like Rudy a lot, but we're going to have to watch what we say,” the Republican senator added.

Speaking to Laura Ingraham on Fox News's "The Ingraham Angle," Giuliani said Monday that he played a key role in forcing ex-U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch from her post earlier this year.

"It is a cover-up, a cover-up," Giuliani claimed.

Giuliani added Trump was simply asking new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky -- in a July phone call -- to investigate crimes at the "highest levels" of both Kiev and Washington.

"So, he is being impeached for doing the right thing as president of the United States," he said.

Earlier this month, Giuliani vowed to release “evidence” that former Vice President Joe Biden and other Obama administration officials “contributed to the increased level of corruption in Ukraine in 2014 and 2016.”

The lawyer made the statements while traveling in Ukraine to meet with lawmakers who said that Biden’s son Hunter Biden obtained money stolen from Ukranian taxpayers.
