Virginia Sheriff Vows to 'Swear In Thousands of Deputies' to Defend Second Amendment
Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins promises to deputize thousands to protect gun rights
A Virginia sheriff has vowed to "swear in thousands of deputies" to defend citizens' Second Amendment rights as the state's Democrat-control government moves to begin the "confiscation" of legally-acquired guns from law-abiding Americans.
Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins has promised to "deputize thousands" to defend gun rights as incoming Democrats push to use their legislative positions for more gun control in Virginia.
In a December 4 Facebook post, Sheriff Jenkins thanked the Culpeper County Board of Supervisors for pledging to stand with the dozens of other counties that have vowed to defend citizens' Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
His message was mixed with somber warnings, however:
Every Sheriff and Commonwealth Attorney in Virginia will see the consequences if our General Assembly passes further unnecessary gun restrictions. “Red Flag” laws without due process will create enormous conflict as well.
America has more guns than citizens and murder has long been illegal. At best, the proposed gun restrictions will disarm or handicap our law-abiding in their defense and possibly cause a criminal to choose another tool for evil.
"I remain very optimistic that our General Assembly will not pass the proposed bills," Jenkins added.
"Obviously, if passed, there are many of us willing to challenge these laws through the courts.
"In addition, if necessary, I plan to properly screen and deputize thousands of our law-abiding citizens to protect their constitutional right to own firearms."
Jenkins made clear he is talking about doing nothing less than calling up the militia to defend God-given rights.
He quoted Richard Henry Lee from 1788, saying, “A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves…and include all men capable of bearing arms.”
“The right to bear arms—some believe that the Second Amendment gives us that right, when in fact it’s a God-given right,” Jenkins continues.
"If you don’t believe in God, it’s a law of nature that every creature can defend their lives from threats.
“If the legislature decides to restrict certain weapons [in a way] I feel harms our community, I will swear in thousands of auxiliary deputies in Culpeper,” Jenkins declared.
“There’s no limit to the number of people I can swear in," the sheriff added.
Earlier this week, Neon Nettle reported that Democratic lawmakers in Virginia have filed proposals to begin the "confiscation" of guns from law-abiding American citizens.
After recently taking complete control of the state, Virginia Democrats are beginning to put their far-left agenda into motion by stripping Americans of their constitutional Second Amendment rights.
The new legislative push follows the announcement at the beginning of last month from leftist Virginia Democrat Governor Ralph Northam regarding his plans to crack down on firearms being owned by civilians.
According to Northam, Democrats “will at least start” their attempts to restrict Virginian’s constitutional rights by “banning the sale of [semi-automatic firearms] and high-capacity magazines, restoring the law that limits purchases to one gun a month."
The Democratic state government also plans to introduce "a red flag law that would empower a court to temporarily remove a gun from a person deemed to be a risk to himself or others,” The Washington Post reported.
When asked about confiscating firearms from law-abiding citizens, Governor Northam responded saying: “That’s something I’m working [on] with our secretary of public safety.”
