Liberal singer Barbra Streisand gave an unsupported history lesson on Monday claiming the Founding Fathers envisioned the impeachment process as a way to stop aspiring despots such as President Donald Trump.

The leftists Grammy winner shared a New York Times op-ed titled, “Trump Is the Founders’ Worst Nightmare,” while suggesting that Trump engaged in a quid pro quo scheme, comparing him to an aspiring tyrant.

“From his blatant attempt to extort Ukraine using taxpayer money for a fake investigation of his political rival, there is question that Trump aspires to be a despot, and impeachment is the sober process envisioned by the Founders to counter such a threat,” Streisand said.

The Times article suggested Trump is the despot Founders feared.

It also adds that the president “has made full use of the demagogic playbook,” citing his MAGA and KAG rallies, accusing him of using them to “spread these falsehoods and attacks the credibility, motives and even patriotism of witnesses” in the partisan impeachment inquiry.

But the founders feared the demagogue, a prominent figure in the Federalist Papers as the politician who seeks ruthless self-aggrandizement “by the confusions of their country.”

In the last of the papers, Federalist No. 85, demagogy is linked to its threat to the constitutional order - to the “despotism” that may be expected from the “victorious demagogue.”

This “despotism” is accomplished via deciding the public, the vilification of the opposition, and a claimed right to disregard “the Constitution and the laws” in what is judged to be the “interests of the people" by the demagogue.

“When this is all over, we will not hear warm bipartisan praise for how ‘the system worked.’ The lesson will be that, in the politics of the time, a demagogue who gets into the Oval Office is hard to get out,” the article ultimately concludes.

In October, Streisand shared a cartoon depicting her president being murdered by Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, much to the sock of her followers.

Streisand tweeted the gruesome drawing in an apparent attempt to express her displeasure with Trump during his ongoing feud with Pelosi.

The cartoon shows a massive pair of high heels, including one labeled "Pelosi."

Impaled on the heel of one of the shoes is a tiny Trump with what appears to be blood flowing from his chest.

According to Fox News, Streisand's tweet came after Pelosi launched an official impeachment inquiry in September.

Earlier this year, Streisand also took aim at the Electoral College, declaring that the voting system represented an “assault on our democratic principles.”

Streisand made the comments while speaking to The Washington Post for an article on what the U.S. Constitution represents.

Streisand described the electoral college as “antiquated” and advocated replacing it with a system that allows the winner of the popular vote to win the election.
