White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham weighed on the first round of impeachment hearings on Wednesday, calling it “a public joke.”

Grisham, who was speaking on Fox News “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” noted that she was pleased the American people had the chance to see what went on throughout the hearing after weeks of closed-door proceedings.

Host Tucker asked Grisham if she had watched any of the coverage of the hearing.

“Did you watch today? What did you think?” he asked.

“I watched, yes,” Grisham replied.

As the evidence session began, Trump welcomed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the White House.

“The two-star witnesses could not even say they ever met the president," she said.

"There was a quote that said ‘hearsay can be much better than evidence’ from the Dems. I don’t understand how that’s possible.”

“Today was a public joke,” the press secretary continued.

Grisham added that she was happy to see things were finally being addressed out in the open.

“I am happy the American people got to see what was different than the last two weeks when everything was behind closed doors.”

“You said, ‘I watched,'” Carlson noticed.

Adam Schiff said he believed Trump's possible impeachable offenses include 'bribery, high crimes, and misdemeanors.'

“Your inflection suggested that others didn’t. Did the president watch?”

“No, he was working. He was in meetings all day. We had President Erdogan from Turkey come in. He met with many other people and was working well into the evening before I left to come here,” Grisham explained.

As the evidence session began, Trump welcomed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the White House.

"It’s a witch hunt, it’s a hoax," said Trump.

"I’m too busy to watch it. I have not been briefed.”

Trump's typically grueling schedule for Wednesday included hosting Erdogan for meetings before holding a press conference with the Turkish leader.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, who is heading the hearing, said he believed Trump's possible impeachable offenses include 'bribery, high crimes, and misdemeanors.'
