House Minority Leader: Impeachment is a 'Calculated Coup' Orchestrated by Adam Schiff
Kevin McCarthy says 'coup' is more 'clear than ever'
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) branded the Democrats' impeachment efforts against President Donald Trump as a “calculated coup,” orchestrated by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff.
McCarthy said, “It is clear now more than ever, this is a calculated coup, and it is being orchestrated by Adam Schiff.”
He added:
“We are watching him orchestrate a takedown of a president after we just celebrated 30 years of taking down the Berlin Wall.”
McCarthy made a claim against the whistleblower after citing a now-deleted 2017 tweet by the whistleblower attorney Mark Zaid, who on Friday, President Trump said should be “sued for treason.”

Last week, President Donald Trump read allowed aloud the Ukraine whistleblower's lawyer's tweets vowing a “coup” against the president, years before the complaint was filed.
Trump pulled out a copy of the news story, first reported by Fox News, and read aloud the tweets by anti-Trump lawyer Mark Zaid to the cheering crowd.
“I don’t know if you saw, I’m coming off the plane and they hand me — look at this character — they just hand me this story,” he said, referring to Zaid, the attorney for the whistleblower who sparked the impeachment inquiry.
“Since Jan 20th, I would much rather be in Canada. What a great country!
"We’ll be great again when @realDonaldTrump leaves."
“It’s very scary,” he wrote in a follow-up post.
“We will get rid of him, and this country is strong enough to survive even him and his supporters. We have to.”
“Coup has started. First of many steps,” Zaid wrote.
"Rebellion, Impeachment will follow ultimately.”

Last week, Neon Nettle reported that public support for Trump's impeachment has significantly fallen since Democrats pushed through a resolution approving the “impeachment inquiry," according to a new Morning Consult/Politico poll.
Morning Consult reported:
"As House Democrats begin to release transcripts of closed-door testimony and prepare for public hearings as part of their impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump, public support for impeaching the president has fallen."
"The latest Morning Consult/Politico poll found that 47 percent of voters favor the House voting to impeach Trump, down four percentage points from the share that backed it in an Oct. 11-13 poll."
