Support For Trump's Impeachment is Falling, Poll Shows
Public support for impeaching has been waning
Public support for impeaching President Donald Trump has significantly fallen since Democrats pushed through a resolution approving the “impeachment inquiry," according to a new Morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday.
Morning Consult reports:
"As House Democrats begin to release transcripts of closed-door testimony and prepare for public hearings as part of their impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump, public support for impeaching the president has fallen.
"The latest Morning Consult/Politico poll found that 47 percent of voters favor the House voting to impeach Trump, down four percentage points from the share that backed it in an Oct. 11-13 poll.
"At the same time, 43 percent of voters oppose the House impeaching Trump, statistically in line with figures from the four other polls conducted on the issue since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced her support for the impeachment inquiry in late September.
"Each of the surveys has a 2-point margin of error."
4 of 5 Democrats now support impeachment with a similar proportion of Republicans opposing impeachment, according to the poll.
Last month, A USA TODAY/Suffolk poll revealed that 36 percent of respondents support the House voting to remove Trump, while 22 percent say Congress should proceed with its impeachment inquiry, but not vote to remove him.
Meanwhile, 37 percent say lawmakers should cease their impeachment probe, while just four percent are undecided on the matter.

On the subject of a Senate impeachment trial, 46 percent are in favor of convicting the President, and 47 percent are against.
In October, Trump blasted the Democrats' "impeachment hoax" led by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam "Shifty Schiff" (D-CA), describing the inquiry as "a disgrace."
The president slammed the reasoning behind the impeachment inquiry - his phone conversation with Ukraine's President Zelensky - urging people to just "read the transcript" and see he did nothing wrong.
In a series of tweets, the president shredded the push to impeach him, dismissing recent developments as “made up garbage.”
“Where’s the Whistleblower? Just read the Transcript, everything else is made up garbage by Shifty Schiff and the Never Trumpers!” President Trump wrote on Twitter.
