New York City Mayor and failed presidential candidate Bill de Blasio mocked President Donald Trump after the news broke he was leaving New York State to become a permanent resident of Florida.

“Don’t let the door hit you on the way out or whatever,” de Blasio said on Twitter.

The anti-Trump Mayor followed up with another tweet, saying:

“Our deepest condolences to the good people of Florida as Trump attempts to outrun his past (and near future).”

Governor Andrew Cuomo then joined in:

“Good riddance. It’s not like @realDonaldTrump paid taxes here anyway… He’s all yours, Florida.”

It didn't take long for the New York Times to suggest that the president's move could save him a small fortune in taxes.

Trump confirmed the news, saying, “despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state, and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse.”

Trump mocked de Blasio after the news he dropped put he presidential race in September:

“Oh no, really big political news, perhaps the biggest story in years! Part time Mayor of New York City, BilldeBlasio, who was polling at a solid ZERO but had tremendous room for growth, has shocking dropped out of the Presidential race. NYC is devastated, he’s coming home!”

In June, de Blasio said that Trump would be no longer welcome back in his home city once his tenure concluded.

The Mayor told BuzzFeed Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith that Trump would "not be welcome back" in the city he called home before relocating to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, according to Mediaite.

"I challenge you, Donald Trump, to come to New York City, and I will debate you about what’s right for New York City," de Blasio threatened.

"And BuzzFeed can host it! Because he doesn’t understand New York City. And when his presidency is over, really soon, he will not be welcome back in New York City!"
