CNN Drools Over Nancy Pelosi Becoming President if Trump and Pence Are Impeached
Far fetched opinion piece has left wing commentators fantasising about unlikely scenario
As House Democrats continue to push their efforts to impeach President Donald Trump, CNN came up with a speculative fantasy of Vice President Mike Pence also being sidelined, paving the way for Nancy Pelosi to take office.
CNN contributor and legal analyst, Paul Callan, outlined the scenario in an opinion piece.
Callan contemplates a far fetched situation where Trump and Pence being drawn into the Ukraine inquiry, leaving the way clear under constitutional law for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to take the White House steps as President.
"What might follow could be a double impeachment scenario that would make heads spin and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the president of the United States.
"After Pence, she’s next in the line of succession.
Callan then admits this may be just a dream, mainly because if Trump and Pence were both implicated in the scandal and Pence’s resignation occurred first, “Trump could nominate a new vice president under the 25th Amendment.”
But this isn't the first time media leftists have sought to elevate Nancy Pelosi to the White House.
Left-leaning Washington Post also outlined a similar scenario in an opinion piece last month:
"What happens when a Democratic speaker of the House — second in line to the presidency, according to the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 — is suddenly thrust into the Oval Office, succeeding a Republican president and vice president who resign, embroiled in scandal?
"Such a scenario is attracting attention — #PresidentPelosi was trending on social media after last week’s announcement of an impeachment inquiry — even though it may seem far-fetched that President Trump and Vice President Pence would be forced from office over abuse of power related to the administration’s dealings with Ukraine or other misdeeds."

But the authors of the piece conceded that it remains “far-fetched” that Trump and Pence could be forced from office over “abuse of power related to the administration’s dealings with Ukraine or other misdeeds."
Earlier this year, Pelosi told European leaders in Brussels that she has equal powers to Trump.
The House Speaker and a delegation of U.S. lawmakers were in Brussels to convince European heads they had control amid the uncertainty around transatlantic relations.
Neon Nettle reported on Monday that Nancy Pelosi was not notified ahead of the successful raid on the hideout of the leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, because President Donald Trump said 'leaks' could have compromised the mission.
When Trump was asked if he notified Pelosi beforehand, he said "no" because he did not want any members of the U.S. forces to die.
CNN and MSNBC also reported Schiff was also left in the dark.
Trump confirmed the remarks after his address to the nation, stating he had deliberately kept some congressional leaders out of the loop but did not name Schiff directly.
