Gunmen Kill 4 in Kansas City Bar As Beto Seizes Tragedy To Push 'Gun Control'
Democrat presidential hopeful says shooting is example of an 'epidemic'
Four people have been killed after two gunmen opened fire in a Kansas City bar early on Saturday morning.
Police are now seeking two suspects following an “earlier altercation” in the KC Tequila Bar, according to The Associated Press.
Although all the facts are not yet known, Democrat presidential hopeful Robert “Beto” O’Rourke called the shooting as another example of an “epidemic,” pushing for gun control.
“Not again. I visited Kansas City in August—and everyone I met was warm, generous, and welcoming. My heart is with all who are impacted by this tragedy. Together, communities like ours, which have been victims of gun violence, will lead the way in ending this epidemic.”
O’Rourke posted a headline from the Kansas City Star, reading - “Nine shot, four dead in shooting at Kansas City, Kansas, bar: police.”
According to the Star’s story, the shooting was reportedly the result of a bar fight, after which two individuals allegedly retrieved guns, re-entered the bar, and killed four people.
But even although the alleged gunmen are yet to be identified, O’Rourke was already tweeting about stopping gun violence.
Five persons were wounded in addition to the four fatalities, according to The Kansas City Star.
O'Rourke last month vowed to confiscate semi-automatic firearms from law-abiding Americans if he is elected president.

I was visiting yesterday w/a physician at KU Hospital about the trauma our metro ERs have seen of late and the toll it’s taking on all. Hate to see an incident like this last night (early AM). My heart goes out to all victims and all touched by last night’s shooting. https://t.co/SBLqcHl45W— Mayor Q (@QuintonLucasKC) October 6, 2019
The presidential candidate made the remarks while campaigning in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Beto was asked by a reporter how he intends to address peoples' fears that the government will confiscate their semi-automatic firearms.
O'Rourke didn't hold back:
"I want to be really clear, that’s exactly what we are going to do. Americans who own [semi-automatic firearms] will have to sell them to the government."
In September, Beto told MSNBC's Joy Reid that Texans had told him hey don't need AR-15s.
"Texans who own AR-15s, they've told me, 'I don't need this. I don't need it to hunt; I don't need it to protect myself ... if giving this back, or cutting it to pieces, or selling it to the gov helps to keep us safer, then, by all means, do it,'" The Daily Wire reported.
