Trump Approval Rating Rises to Highest level of 2019 Amid Impeachment Inquiry
New figures show impeachment inquiry is not having negative effect on president
President Donald Trump's approval rating soared to its highest level this year despite media focus on the Democrats' impeachment inquiry.
The new figures show a 2-point increase from a Sept. 11-12 poll, and a 2-point decrease from its previous peak of 51 percent last August, according to the Hill-HarrisX survey released on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Trump's disapproval rating dropped to 51 percent, marking its lowest level of 2019.
The nationwide survey was conducted between Sept. 28 and 29, less than a week after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump after she caved in to pressure from Democrats.
Pelosi later accused Trump of engaging in a 'cover-up' based on the whistleblower's allegations that the White House tried to conceal call records between Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Pelosi told reporters, “there are actions that are a cover-up."
On Wednesday, House Democrats threatened to subpoena the White House for documents relating to Trump’s dealings with Ukraine as part of their impeachment inquiry.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) said that House committees have repeatedly tried to obtain voluntary compliance from Trump officials, but the White House has “refused to engage with — or even respond to — the Committees."
On Wednesday, Trump has accused the Democrats of pushing their ongoing impeachment efforts as part of a “coup" to remove him from office and "take power away from the people."
On Tuesday, Trump wrote on Twitter:
"As I learn more and more each day, I am coming to the conclusion that what is taking place is not an impeachment, it is a COUP, intended to take away the Power of the People, their VOTE, their Freedoms, their Second Amendment, Religion, Military, Border Wall, and their God-given rights as a Citizen of the United States of America!"
During private remarks at a reception in New York City after the United Nations General Assembly, Trump said:
"We’re at war. These people are sick, they’re sick, and nobody’s called it out like I do.
"I don’t understand, people are afraid to call it out, they are afraid to say that the press is crooked, we have a crooked press, we have a dishonest media."
