Section 60 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 order is now in place for the Hillingdon and Ealing areas until 7 am on Wednesday, allowing the police greater search powers for this limited period.

A Section 60 order gives police the right to stop and search people in a defined area during a specific time period when an incident involving serious violence has taken place.

It allows police to search individuals who could be carrying a dangerous instrument or offensive weapon that was used in the incident.

This order comes after a murder investigation was launched when a man was stabbed to death on a train at Hillingdon station shortly before 4 pm on Tuesday.

Another murder investigation was opened on Tuesday after a special post-mortem revealed a woman found dead in her home died as a result of head injuries.

The body of 58-year-old Serafima Meshaka was found in a flat in Haven Green Court, Ealing, on September 18.

No arrests have been made in either murder investigation.
