Harvard University has admitted to receiving $8.9 million from convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, but the elite college says it is keeping the majority of the donations, according to reports.

Officials from the prominent Boston university have agreed to donate $186,000 of the funds to human trafficking and child abuse charities, which equates to just 2.09 percent of the total gifted by the Clinton-linked sex offender.

Harvard confesses to receiving the funding over a decade period that ended in 2007 and that Epstein was listed as a fellow in the psychology department in 2005.

Harvard president Larry Bacow said the school was expanding its own internal probe into Epstein.

In a letter to the community published on Thursday night, Bacow described the convicted pedophile's behavior as "repulsive."

"Epstein's behavior, not just at Harvard, but elsewhere, raises significant questions about how institutions like ours review and vet donors," he stated.

"Jeffrey Epstein's crimes were repulsive and reprehensible.

"I profoundly regret Harvard's past association with him."

Harvard has previously admitted that Epstein gave them a $6.5 million contribution to establish their Program for Evolutionary Dynamics in 2003.

However, Bacow conceded in his letter that $2.4 million in donations to support Harvard between 1998 and 2007.

The university’s statement came a day after revelations that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) had accepted gifts from Epstein after his Florida conviction on prostitution so long as the donations remained anonymous.

Deceased sex offender Epstein worked with prominent investors, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates, to funnel millions in "anonymous" cash donations to the MIT.

Convicted pedophile Epstein worked with Gates to funnel $2 million to MIT for unspecified projects.

Epstein reportedly acted as a middle-man for wealthy donors to funnel a total of $7.5 million to the research lab, which MIT has allegedly tried to cover up.

The work, which was revealed in a report by The New Yorker, all took place after Epstein was exposed as a pedophile following his conviction for soliciting a minor.

“Epstein appeared to serve as an intermediary between the lab and other wealthy donors, soliciting millions of dollars in donations from individuals and organizations, including the technologist and philanthropist Bill Gates and the investor Leon Black,” reports the New Yorker.

“According to the records obtained by The New Yorker and accounts from current and former faculty and staff of the media lab, Epstein was credited with securing at least $7.5 million in donations for the lab, including two million dollars from Gates and $5.5 million from Black, gifts the e-mails describe as 'directed' by Epstein or made at his behest.”

MIT’s president acknowledged the donations on Thursday and said he signed a thank-you letter to Epstein in 2012.

Harvard added that it will donate the total unspent balance of $186,000 to organizations that support victims of human trafficking and sexual assault.

“This is an unusual step for the university, but we have decided it is the proper course of action under the circumstances of Epstein’s egregiously repugnant crimes,” Bacow said.

Epstein was arrested on July 6 on federal charges for sex trafficking.

Prosecutors said he recruited dozens of underage girls to give him massages and then sexually abused them.

Epstein pleaded not guilty.

The wealthy 66-year-old money manager was found dead on Aug. 10 in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan where he was awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges.

An autopsy concluded that he hanged himself; a ruling disputed by Epstein's lawyers.
