Graham Calls for Obama to Be Grilled ‘Under Oath’ Over Russia Probe Origins
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman wants answers from former president
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham told Sean Hannity on Fox News he was open to putting former President Barack Obama under oath as part of an investigation into possible White House involvement in the Russia investigation.
Graham wants to know who told President Obama about the counterintelligence into then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Graham declared he wants to get answers from the former president.
The South Carolina Republican said he was willing to call former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and former CIA Director John Brennan to testify.
Graham told Hannity he was "determined" to get to the bottom of the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation.
The Mueller report dominated the headlines for almost two years before being concluded and clearing the president.
The bottom line, Graham says, is finding out ut what Obama knew, when he knew it, and whom he learned it from.
“I can't imagine an investigation of the Republican nominee for president — a counterintelligence investigation of his campaign — was not approved at the highest level,” Graham said.
“I cannot imagine it happening without somebody in the White House knowing about it."
There are even questions on whether Russia investigation started earlier than thought, and whether the White House was involved.
Then Hannity asked Graham if the probe meant asking Obama questions under oath:
“Absolutely,” Graham replied.
Graham also names Comey, Brennan, McCabe, and Clapper as people he'd like to ask whether they gave Obama intel on the investigation, and why no one ever informed Trump on the allegations.
The senator then noted:
"The whole point of a counterintelligence investigation is to protect people.”
“And yes, I’d like to know what President Obama thought about the investigation,” Graham added.
In March, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Mueller’s report on Russian collusion “conclusively” exonerates Trump, but not Obama.
McConnell laid blame on the Obama administration for not dealing with alleged Russia election interference three years ago.
“No collusion, no conspiracy, no obstruction,” McConnell said in a floor speech Monday following Mueller's report.
Graham also slammed CNN for hiring McCabe, who was fired for leaking to the media and is under criminal investigation through the Justice Department.
McCabe, who wrote a book, spent the last year defending his actions at the FBI and pushing for President Donald Trump's impeachment.
“CNN has just hired the alleged architect of a criminal conspiracy against the Trump campaign,” Graham said.
“So how much time and attention do you think they are going to give to the Horowitz report when they hired the guy that Horowitz is investigating?” McCabe joined Clapper at the network.
