Ann Marie Villafaña negotiated a secret plea deal for Billionaire

A prosecutor who is under investigation for helping craft a secret deal that allowed pedophile child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein avoid charges in 2008, has resigned.
Ann Marie Villafaña resigned from the Justice Department, her lawyer, Jonathan Biran, said Thursday.
Villafaña will be joining the Department of Health and Human Services, according to reports.
“She is grateful for her career in the Justice Department and excited for a new opportunity at Health and Human Services,” Biran said.

Villafaña worked with several other federal prosecutors and her former boss, Alexander Acosta, to ditch a federal indictment of Epstein in 2008, charging at the state level with minor prostitution charges, according to the Miami Herald.
In July, Epstein was arrested on child sex trafficking charges and charged with molesting dozens of underage girls in New York and Florida.
The billionaire was taken into custody by federal investigators as his plane landed at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey last month.

Epstein was charged with sex trafficking by federal prosecutors with the US Attorney's Office in Manhattan.
For the last few months, Epstein has been the subject of an investigation of unknown charges by the Southern District of New York.
Also in July, President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said Epstein's case is "going to implicate a lot of people."
The former New York mayor said it is "not going to end up with just Jeffrey Epstein," regarding the case.
Mr. Giuliani made the remarks while speaking during an interview with Hill.TV.Giuliani says investigators will undoubtedly focus on Clinton-linked Epstein's inner circle.
