Rep. Jerry Nadler says House Democrats are investigating Trump for 'torturing children' at the border

Democratic House Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) has claimed that House Democrats are investigating President Donald Trump for “the torture of children at the border.”

Speaking Tuesday on CNN’s “OutFront,” Nadler said, “We have a lot of things we’re investigating now and among other things, the president’s misconduct, the torture of children at the border.”

“We’re issuing two sets of subpoenas," he continued.

"The first for people involved with the administration’s torture of children and family separation, torture of children at the border.

"We sent letters and made inquiries for months and gotten no proper responses.”

“The president contradicts witnesses and his own inspector general and says things are fine in the thing are not fine," Nadler adds.

"We are torturing children. We are running horrible family separation things.

"This is going to stop. We have got to get the bottom of this.

"We issued a number of subpoenas because our letters and inquiries are getting nowhere.”

Meanwhile, in an attempt to attack's Trump's immigration policies, House Democrats tweeted a photo to promote their investigation into “inhumane treatment”  at the border

The image they used was taken in 2014 during President Barack Obama’s administration, however, and the tweet was quickly deleted again on Tuesday shortly after it was posted.

A hearing advisory set for Wednesday titled “Kids in Cages: Inhumane Treatment at the Border” was announced on Twitter by the Committee on Oversight and Reform.

The hearing was called after members of the committee witnessed the “grotesque treatment of children” and will be “examining” this alleged inhumane treatment.

According to the Daily Caller, the announcement was meant to be for the inhumane treatment allegedly occurring under President Donald Trump.

The tweet included a photo, but there was just one problem.

The picture included in the tweet of children in cages was from the Obama administration, according to President Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign. The photo was quickly deleted.

Trump War Room, an account managed by the Trump 2020 presidential campaign, included a second tweet which showed the specific portion of the photo included in the House Democrats' tweet.

After deleting the tweet, the Oversight Committee put up a second tweet with a different photo.

This one was also from the Obama administration, according to Republican House Oversight Committee and the Associated Press.

This tweet was also deleted.

The Hill has also made a similar blunder when they put a photo of children in cages from the Obama administration for an article about Trump’s detention centers.
