Beto O’Rourke Slams Trump's Mexico Deal: He ‘Achieved Nothing’
O’Rourke claimed Trump 'completely overblown' his achievement with Mexico

Presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke joined the chorus of Democrats slamming President Donald Trump's historic immigration deal with Mexico saying he "achieved nothing."
O’Rourke claimed Trump "completely overblown" his achievement with Mexico after they signed a deal with the United States agreeing to take action against illegal immigration in the light of the president's tariff increase threats.
Beto, who once claimed the border was safe because of immigrants and asylum seekers, echoed the likes of Nancy Pelosi who said Trump had “undermined America’s preeminent leadership role in the world” with his tariff threats on Mexico.

“We are deeply disappointed by the Administration’s expansion of its failed Remain-in-Mexico policy, which violates the rights of asylum seekers under U.S. law and fails to address the root causes of Central American migration,” Pelosi said.
O’Rourke said:
“I think the president has completely overblown what he purports to have achieved. These are agreements that Mexico already had made, months ago, by and large, the president achieved nothing but to jeopardize the most trading relationship that the United States of America has.
There are 6 million jobs in the country that depend on U.S.-Mexico trade. About 40% of the value that everything we import in Mexico actually originated in this country.

On factory floors, in Ohio, Michigan, these farmers who are already struggling under a trade war that this president started with China.
They can’t take any more from the president.
We have to make sure we fight for those farmers. Strengthen our ties with Mexico and secure our connection with the rest of the world.
Not through walls but by investing in solutions in Central America, to ensure that no family has to make that 2,000-mile journey because they’re fleeing the deadliest countries on the face of the planet today.”
The Mexican Government eventually buckled over the impending tariff hikes that were due to come into force on Monday.
President Trump announced the win late Friday, revealing that Mexico is going to take "strong measures" to end the flow of illegal immigration into the United States to avoid being hit with massive tariffs.
