Fifty-four percent of Americans believe that President Donald Trump will win the 2020 presidential election, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS.

While the remaining 41 percent don’t think Trump will win 2020, the poll suggests Trump’s push for 2020 is picking up momentum.

The poll shows a shift in opinion compared to CNN‘s results in December last year with 51 percent of respondents predicting Trump would lose 2020.

The news network also noted that Trump's rating is higher than former president Barack Obama’s was at the same point in his presidency.

Just 50 percent of people thought Obama would win reelection in 2011.

The study was conducted through a survey interviewer calls to cell phones and landline phones in the US, with a random sample of 1,006 adults were surveyed.

The result was divided into two respondents:

  • 1: Those “who approve of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president.”
  • 2: "Respondents who disapprove of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president.”

Those who approved of Trump gave "the economy" as their top reason.

The second reason was Trump keeping his promises.

And the third highest reason was he was doing an overall good job.

The fact that Trump is not part of the political establishment is another reason they approved.

“I will be announcing my Second Term Presidential Run with First Lady Melania, Vice President Mike Pence, and Second Lady Karen Pence on June 18th in Orlando, Florida, at the 20,000 seat Amway Center. Join us for this Historic Rally!” Trump tweeted on May 31.

Following Trump's State of The Union speech in February, a CNN poll reported he had also won the approval of the majority of Americans.

The number of Americans viewing Iran and North Korea as a threat also plummeted, according to CNN.

Trump's job approval rating rose sharply to 45% in an April 1-9 Gallup poll, which has increased by 39% compared to March, following the conclusion of the Mueller report.

It was the third time Trump reached 45% job approval rating in Gallup trends, the highest in the series.

This is the first time Gallup' measured Trump's approval since Robert Mueller's report concluded following the investigation into the alleged Russian collusion, which cleared the presdient of any wrongdoing.
