Elton John Blasts 'Idiot' Nationalists Over Brexit: 'I’m Sick to Death of It'
The 72-year old pro-globalist performer slams democratic
Rock icon Sir Elton John launched into an angry tirade against Brexit at a concert in Italy, telling his audience 'I am a European.'
The 72-year old pro-globalist performer let loose while performing in Verona as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
The multi-millionaire pro-EU singer stopped in between songs to tell the audience:
"I am so sick to death of politicians, especially British politicians."
"I am sick to death of Brexit. I am a European. I am not a stupid, colonial, imperialist English idiot."
"I'm ashamed of my country for what it has done. It's torn people apart."
The star was met with cheers following his political rant.
Elton's outburst came as the UK continues torn apart from the division on Brexit.
In an interview with Channel 4 News, he said: 'I don't think people in Britain were told the truth to start with.
"I don't think they knew exactly what they were voting for."
'They were promised something that was completely ridiculous and wasn't economically viable.
'And then it's got so complicated now I just don't know what's going on.'
The UK's populist Brexit Party, led by the former head of the nationalist UK Independent Party (UKIP), Nigel Farage, stormed to victory in the European Union Parliamentary elections last week.
According to preliminary results, Farage's pro-Brexit party received the majority of votes in the United Kingdom's East, North West and South-West of England and Wales.
Farage struck fear into the heart of the British political establishment as his Brexit Party surged in the EU elections, gaining as much as 40 percent of the vote in some parts of the country.
On Friday, UK YouGov pollster released a survey that projected that the Brexit Party would receive 37 percent of votes in the EU elections, meaning it would get up to 28 seats in the legislature.
