Omar says she brings a 'perspective of a foreigner' to Washington, but what that perspective is is to be debated

Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar claimed she brings “the perspective of a foreigner” to U.S. foreign policy, according to an interview with a hometown newspaper in Minnesota.

According to The Minneapolis Star-Tribune: “The Somali-born Minnesota Democrat, saying she brings ‘the perspective of a foreigner’ to her new role, believes that American foreign policy needs to be changed in fundamental ways.”

She continued saying that U.S. foreign policy needs “something equivalent to the Green New Deal.”

Omar's left-wing position and widely regarded antisemitic stance on Israel, as many have argued, is the only thing she's brought to Washington.

Before winning a seat in Congress, Omar called Israel an “apartheid regime."

She tweeted:

“Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”

Her tweet has since been deleted.

Perhaps Omar's interview for Vogue Arabia In April was she said "every day” she is "threatened" and "demonized" due to the "ugliness" that she says is ingrained in the US populace, is a foreigner's perspective?

Or perhaps Omar and Rashida Tlaib's voiced support for Iran's regime in support of Palestinian terrorists attacking Israel.

They both expressed their support for the rocket attacks against Israel last month.

Also this month, the congresswoman said "ignorance" was prevalent in "many parts of this country" during a recent podcast.

Omar was speaking about the process that refugees go through and claiming Republicans were "really good at misinformation and sort of really reorganizing facts to sort of paint a picture that really eventually is not rooted in fact."

"And so it is not that they might not be knowledgeable about this, but they use it as a tool to stir up hate and division," Omar maintained.

Amid all of the ongoing verbal assaults on the US by Omar, Democratic Party leaders, including Nancy Pelosi, desperately struggled to limit the political ramifications, instead of merely condemning her remarks.

But what Omar means by “the perspective of a foreigner” is to be debated.

Her portrayal of America abroad is something that paints the country as malicious.

But as The Star-Tribune noted:

“She’d like to see a vastly downscaled U.S. military presence around the world, and much less direct intervention in the domestic politics of other countries.”

It quotes Omar herself calling for the U.S. to lead “with moral conviction” through “diplomacy, in cultural and economic exchange.”

We'll leave it at that.
