Adam Schiff: Barr's Investigation Into Origin Of Russia Probe is 'Un-American'
Democrat says Trump stonewalls the public from 'learning the truth'

California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff tweeted on Thursday that Attorney General William Barr’s investigation into the origins of the Russia probe is “un-American.”
“While Trump stonewalls the public from learning the truth about his obstruction of justice, Trump and Barr conspire to weaponize law enforcement and classified information against their political enemies,” Schiff wrote.
“The coverup has entered a new and dangerous phase. This is un-American.”
Last week, Attorney General William Barr ordered a top Connecticut prosecutor to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia probe.

AG Barr chose US Attorney John Durham to decide if the government’s methods while collecting intelligence regarding the 2016 Trump campaign were “lawful and appropriate,” according to Associated Press.
Preceding to this appointment, Barr told Congress last month that he believed “spying did occur” against Donald Trump's campaign, but didn't elaborate on the details.
Trump also issued a memo on Thursday granting Barr full authority to declassify and release the documents regarding the surveillance of the Trump campaign in 2016 by the Obama White House.

This is un-American.
It's un-American to produce government documents that reflect poorly on my political allies, and are likely to show that the conspiracy nonsense on which I've staked my career was a complete fraud. I'm Adam Schiff, and I approve this message https://t.co/W5g8fR4ONd

The president also ordered the intelligence community to cooperate with Barr during the process.
The memo from Trump reads:
"The heads of elements of the intelligence community... and the heads of each department or agency that includes an element of the intelligence community shall promptly provide such assistance and information as the Attorney General may request in connection with that review."
The news was confirmed by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, who said in a statement:
"Today, at the request and recommendation of the Attorney General of the United States, President Donald J. Trump directed the intelligence community to quickly and fully cooperate with the Attorney General’s investigation into surveillance activities during the 2016 Presidential election."
