Attorney General William Barr has revealed how he is working on finding out whether or not “government officials abused their power and put their thumb on the scale” in the initial stages of the Russia investigation.

Speaking exclusively to Fox News's Bill Hemmer in an interview, Barr explained how he is trying to get answers on the burning question.

"I’ve been trying to get answers to the questions, and I've found that a lot of the answers have been inadequate and some of the explanations I've gotten don't hang together, in a sense I have more questions today than when I first started," Barr said.

Hemmer asked Barr, "What doesn't hang together?"

"Some of the explanations of what occurred," Barr replied.

"Why does that matter?" asked Hemmer.

"People have to find out what the government was doing during that period. If we're worried about foreign influence, for the very same reason we should be worried about whether government officials abuse their power and put their thumb on the scale," Barr responded.

"I'm not saying that happened, but it's something we have to look at," Barr added.

The interview was conducted in El Salvador, where the crisis on the U.S.-Mexico will be addressed along with human trafficking with officials.

Barr appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation on Monday.

But according to multiple reports, Durham has already been investigating the case "for weeks."

Democrats also accused Barr of acting as the president's "personal attorney," but Republican responded by been accusing Democrats of defaming the attorney general to damage Trump.

Former congressman Trey Gowdy notified Attorney General William Barr's investigators of the key lies in emails between Comey and Brennan.

Ex-South Carolina Rep. Gowdy gave a tip in which he urged investigators to look at former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan.

“So whoever’s investigating this, tell them to look for emails between Brennan and Comey in December 2016,” Gowdy said.

Gowdy declined to disclose his knowledge of the information on Brennan-Gowdy emails or if he was basing the advice around a theory.

But the former federal prosecutor, who has never lost a case, also hinted that the FBI deems ex-British spy and Trump dossier author Christopher Steele, as a less-than-credible source.
