Former FBI official Mark Morgan, slams Comey's public anti-Trump stance

A former ex-FBI assistant director has claimed James Comey does "damage" to the bureau when he publicly bashes President Donald Trump.

Former FBI official Mark Morgan, Trump's pick to head Immigration and Customs Enforcement, slammed Comey's public anti-Trump stance, according to USA Today.

“He is telling the world now that he thinks the president is amoral. That opinion just didn’t come out of thin air on the day he was fired,” Morgan said.

“As a former director of the FBI, when he speaks, he still brings the full force of credibility of that position, and so he’s not an average citizen when he speaks, and he knows that … Every time he speaks, every time he does an op-ed, he continues to do damage to the FBI.”

Morgan cited a New York Times op-ed where Comey called Trump an "amoral leader" who corrupted Attorney General William Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein regarding Mueller's report on the Russia investigation.

Last month, Comey suggested that Trump is a more significant threat than Russia after he asserted he didn't agree with Attorney General William Barr's testimony on the FBI spying.

On Thursday evening, Comey participated in a CNN town hall where he said "it sure looks like" Trump obstructed justice.

Trump responded following the town hall:

"James Comey is a disgrace to the FBI & will go down as the worst Director in its long and once proud history," he tweeted.

"He brought the FBI down, almost all Republicans & Democrats thought he should be FIRED, but the FBI will regain greatness because of the great men & women who work there!"

Although Barr said himself and Rosenstein concluded that it is insufficient evidence to prove any obstruction, Democrats argue that t Mueller's report leaves it up to Congress to investigate.

Comey claims Mueller laid out a path for a future prosecutor to "take a serious look at charging" Trump after he is out of office.

Trump last week said Comey was "probably was one of the people leading the effort on spying" on his 2016 presidential campaign.

Trump highlighted Attorney General William Barr's claims that "spying did occur" on his 2016 campaign.

"I would say he probably led some kind of an effort. The word 'spying' has been used. He probably was one of the people leading the effort on spying," Trump told Fox News's, Catherine Herridge.

"I know, we will find out whether it was it could very well be true. We are going to find out pretty soon."
