Omar Incorrectly Refers to Gaza as 'Occupied,' Supports Palestinian Terrorists
Democrat shows support for terrorists in tweet with false information
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) incorrectly referred to Gaza as “occupied” in a tweet that supported Palestinian terrorists against Israel, following strikes on Israeli civilian population centers.
Omar, who is a fierce supporter of anti-Israel “boycott, divestment, sanctions” (BDS) movement, and who also recently came under fire for her anti-Jewish tirade that has been widely regarded as anti-Semitic, called the conflict on Sunday a “cycle of violence,” seemingly blaming Israel.
Omar refers to “protesters” that were shot because they were breaching the border fence and were using incendiary devices and other weapons.
Hamas terror organization was responsible for organizing the “protests” in the past, and violently suppressed protests against its own brutal regime in Gaza, according to the UN.
Among the many questionable claims in Omars' tweet, she said Gaza faces a “status quo of occupation.”
But in 2005, Israel withdrew every Israeli soldier and civilian from Gaza, which ultimately ended any possible “occupation” of the territory.
The hope was that Palestinians would use Israel's withdrawal as a chance to invest in Gaza’s economy.
How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends?— Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) May 5, 2019
The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable. Only real justice can bring about security and lasting peace.
According to Breitbart: Instead, Hamas — which took over Gaza in a 2007 coup against the Palestinian Authority government.
I then turned Gaza into a terrorist launchpad, using civilian areas in the territory to launch rockets at Israeli cities.
It proceeded in burrowing tunnels to infiltrate into Israeli territory and kidnap Israeli soldiers (successfully, in the case of Gilad Shalit in 2006).
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appointed Omar in January to the House Foreign Affairs Committee and has refused to remove her from that post despite reiterated antisemitic comments and misstatements of basic facts.
Trump slammed the Democrat during a speech to the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas giving “special thanks” to Omar before adding in a sarcastic tone:
“Oh, I forgot. She doesn’t like Israel. I forgot. I’m so sorry.”
Omar faced a barrage of criticism following accusations of anti-Semitism after she suggested pro-Israel lobby group AIPAC influenced American politics.
