Ilhan Omar: Socialist Venezuela Collapsed Due to 'Bullying' by the United States
Radical Democrat blames America for the rising unrest under dictator Maduro's regime

Controversial Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has blamed the rising unrest in Venezuela, under socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro's regime, on "bullying" from the United States.
Omar argued during a Wednesday interview that sanctions against Maduro by the US led to the collapse of Venezuela.
Speaking with the leftist group Democracy Now!, Omar declared that “a lot of the policies that we have put in place has [sic] kind of helped lead the devastation in Venezuela.”
“And we’ve sort of set the stage for where we’re arriving today.”
“This particular bullying and the use of sanctions to eventually intervene and make regime change really does not help the people of countries like Venezuela, and it certainly does not help and is not in the interest of the United States,” Omar said.
WOW: @IlhanMN says the U.S. has "helped lead the devastation in #Venezuela," and accuses the U.S. on "bullying" the Maduro regime.

According to Breitbart, Venezuela is currently suffering through the worst economic, political, and humanitarian crisis in its history after nearly two decades of socialist rule.
Maduro lost his legal mandate to govern the country in January after his last term was up when the National Assembly denounced fraudulent elections a year ago and swore in its president, Juan Guaidó, as interim president of the country.
As Neon Nettle previously reported, on Tuesday, troops loyal to socialist dictator Maduro's regime plowed into a crowd of protesters with an armored vehicle.
Maduro, whom the opposition leader is trying to unseat, is refusing to stand down, despite the uprising and mass protests.
In a television address, Maduro attempted to downplay Mr. Guaidó's supporters, describing them as a "small group" whose plan had failed.
Maduro is fighting back, however, and footage shows an armored vehicle plowing into a crowd of pro-Guaido supporters.

Omar has denounced international support for Guaidó as a “coup” and Guaidó’s party as “far right” despite its membership in the Socialist International.
She is among several voices supporting Maduro around the world in opposition to the leaders of 54 countries who accept Guaidó’s legitimacy, according to the PanAm Post.
“In February, Omar attacked Elliott Abrams, the U.S. special envoy to Venezuela, in a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, accusing him of supporting violence against civilians as U.S. policy,” the Washington Examiner reported.
“I suppose there is a question in there, and the answer is that the entire thrust of American policy in Venezuela is to support the Venezuelan people’s effort to restore democracy to their country. That’s our policy,” Abrams responded.

Progressive lawmaker Omar's remarks caused further outrage this week when blasted the president and Republicans before declaring that America "is NOT Going to Be the Country of White People," while speaking during an anti-Trump rally on Capitol Hill Tuesday
Black Lives Matter and other leftist groups held a demonstration calling for President Donald Trump to be censured for his response to Omar’s controversial statement that “some people did something” on 9/11.
Omar's supporters chanted “Hands off Ilhan” as a series of speeches blamed President Trump and Republicans for the so-called rise of “white supremacy masked as white nationalism.”
After celebrating her own background as a refugee from Somalia, Omar blasted the United States for being "founded on the history of Native American genocide."
