Police Probe Claim '8chan Manifesto' Could Link Synagogue & Mosque Attacks
A purported copy of the manifesto claims the author to be Christian
California police are reportedly investigating a manifesto allegedly published on 8Chan by John Earnest, the suspected gunman on Saturday's synagogue shooting in Poway.
Authorities claim the manifesto could link him to an arson attack on a California mosque last month.
A purported copy of the manifesto claims the author to be Christian who is " a man of European ancestry,..blessed by God for such a magnificent bloodline," and praises the "sacrifice" of Brenton Tarrant, 28, who has been charged with the horrific Christchurch massacre in New Zealand.
The manifesto, which is nine pages long, is structured similarly to the one written by Tarrant.
The shooting occurred at Chabad of Poway synagogue around noon local time, according to San Diego Sheriff’s Department's Poway station.
One woman has died from her injuries, the sheriff's department confirmed.
Two men and female juvenile are amongst those injured.
Earnest was identified s as a suspect after he turned himself into police.
In the manifesto, it claims Jews are "responsible for the meticulously planned genocide of the human race" before claiming he is "a soldier that has the honor and privilege of defending his race in its greatest hours of need."
The manifesto also denounces Trump as "Zionist, Jew-loving, anti-White, traitorous c---sucker" before branding conservatives as "useless, spineless coward[s]" who "conserve nothing."
Thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by the shooting at the Synagogue in Poway, California. God bless you all. Suspect apprehended. Law enforcement did outstanding job. Thank you!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 27, 2019
According to The Washington Examiner: Among his inspirations, the writer cites Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul, Martin Luther, Adolf Hitler, Robert Bowers [accused of the Pittsburgh synagogue shootings], Tarrant and the composer Ludwig van Beethoven."
Three people were injured, including the congregation's rabbi, and one woman was killed.
Police said the shooter used a military-style rifle in the attack, but the gun likely jammed. An off-duty Border Patrol officer fired at the shooter as he fled the scene, hitting his car.
San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said that authorities were looking into a potential connection between the suspect and arson at a mosque in Escondido, Calif. The manifesto states that the writer "scorched a mosque in Escondido with gasoline a week after Brenton Tarrant's sacrifice" and sprayed Tarrant's name there.
No one was injured, and no serious damage was done in the March 24 arson, but authorities found a letter there that referenced the New Zealand attacks.
Trump tweeted his condolences to those affected by the Poway shooting.
"Thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by the shooting at the Synagogue in Poway, California. God bless you all. Suspect apprehended. Law enforcement did an outstanding job. Thank you!" Trump said.
