Nadler Struggles to Explain Why Trump Can't Send Illegals to Sanctuary Cities
New York Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler attacks president during CNN interview
New York Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler struggled to explain why he believes it is not "legal" for President Donald Trump and his administration to send illegal alien border crossers to so-called "sanctuary cities."
During a Sunday interview on CNN, Nadler attempted to explain why it would be “illegal” send migrants across the country to cities that welcome illegal immigrants.
Democratic House Judiciary Committee Chair Nadler, whose New York home is designated a "sanctuary city," also took a swipe at White House aide Stephen Miller during the appearance on State of the Union with host Jake Tapper.
Nadler said Miller “seems to be the boss of everybody on immigration,” and that he should “explain” to Congress the administration’s policies regarding immigration.

Jerry Nadler on Trump saying it’s “legal” to release migrants in sanctuary cities: “Probably Stephen Miller, who seems to be the boss of everybody on immigration, ought to come before Congress and explain some of these policies.” #CNNSOTU https://t.co/svcm84ikTu pic.twitter.com/hvdqCXTk1X— CNN (@CNN) April 14, 2019
According to Fox News, Nadler told CNN that he learned from “whistle-blowers” that Miller was behind the idea to place the illegal immigrants in these cities.
President Trump has recently suggested releasing the growing number of illegal migrants into sanctuary cities, sparking outrage from Democrats.

For Democrats such as Nadler, who have remained outspoken critics of Trump’s efforts to address the crisis at the US-Mexico border, their stances on the issue are clearly becoming increasingly difficult to explain.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed to "Fox News Sunday" that President Trump's prospective plan to send illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities is undergoing a "complete and thorough review."
Democrats, who have fought to protect illegal immigrants from federal authorities, characterized the possible move as a dangerous stunt.
Trump has grown increasingly frustrated over the situation at the border, where tens of thousands of immigrant families are crossing each month, many to claim asylum.
Just out: The USA has the absolute legal right to have apprehended illegal immigrants transferred to Sanctuary Cities. We hereby demand that they be taken care of at the highest level, especially by the State of California, which is well known or its poor management & high taxes!— Donald J. His administration has attempted several efforts to stop the flow and he recently shook up the top ranks of the Department of Homeland Security.
The idea to ship immigrants to Democratic strongholds was considered twice in recent months, but the White House and Department of Homeland Security said the plan had been rejected.
