CNN Host Claims AOC's Fake Accent is 'Code-Switching' & 'Absolutely Normal'
Don Lemon sasy Alexandria Ocasio Cortez mimicking African American accents is ok
Following the bizarre and ever slightly cringe-worthy spectacle of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez speaking to a predominantly black audience at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, CNN host Don Lemon has jumped to her defense.
Apparently, AOC mimicking African American accents is what is known as "code switching" and is normal according to Lemon.
"There is a difference between mocking someone or a group of people, and knowing your audience," Lemon said.
"You have hung out with black people, and that's not the first time she's used that accent. Trust me."
Responding to the Washington Examiner report on Ocasio-Cortez's accent, Lemon knocked his colleague Chris Cuomo for also "code-switching."
The term is used to describe changing one's style of communication for different social groups or in situations.
"It's code-switching, everybody does it. I do it. You do it. You may not realize you're doing it," he said.
Ocasio-Cortez once again blamed conservatives for deliberately attacking her every move.

As much as the right wants to distort & deflect, I am from the Bronx. I act & talk like it, *especially* when I’m fired up and especially when I’m home.— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) April 5, 2019
It is so hurtful to see how every aspect of my life is weaponized against me, yet somehow asserted as false at the same time.

But it seems Ocasio-Cortez has tried to use Hillary Clinton's tactics, who is known for doing much the same thing with her voice when speaking with black crowds in southern states.
A well known, and equally cringe-worthy, video of Clinton speaking at black church during her failed 2008 bid for the presidency, shows how he adopted a thick southern drawl in an attempt to win over audiences.
It didn't work for Hillary.
It's probably not going to work for Ocasio-Cortez either.
