Denmark Government to Deny Citizenship to Children of ISIS Members
Danish People’s Party makes deal with government with new policy

Denmark's government will refuse citizenship to children born to Danish Islamic State fighters overseas in a landmark move by the populist Danish People’s Party (DF).
The new policy comes after a deal with the populist party, effectively ending the previous system which permitted the children of Islamic State fighters to claim citizenship, according to DR.
The new move was supported by foreign minister Inger Støjberg, who is noted for her tough stance against mass migration.
Støjberg said: "They are born of parents who have turned their backs on Denmark and therefore they should not belong to Denmark.”

Støjberg has become known for her strict stance on migration policies, one of which was rejecting European Union migrant quotas because 'not enough migrants contribute to Danish society,' and arguing that migrants should “adjust to Danish values.”
A spokesman for the DF, Christian Langballe, welcomed the proposal, stating the party had pushed for the policy for a long time.
“They are born down there, they have never known Denmark, they have no connection with Denmark, and we must remember that it is the parents who have chosen to go down in the war zone to fight for the Islamic State,” Langballe said.
The Danish government also has the power to strip the citizenship of Islamic State members who are dual nationals without going through the courts.

“We don’t want them back home.,” Langballe said and added.
“We have seen returning Syrian warriors, for example, returning to France. Here they committed this terrible terrorist attack on, among other things, the Bataclan venue and murdered 129 people.”
Earlier this month, the Danish Government announced that it will no longer automatically grant all Syrian asylum seekers temporary asylum, and is preparing plans to return those who were previously granted asylum.
Earlier this week, Danish officials revealed that Denmark, unlike its Scandinavian neighbors, is considering using force to remove migrants from Syria and Somalia who are unwilling to leave willingly.
As a rule, residence permits will become temporary, and the government will have more capability of withdrawing.
Danish Finance Minister Kristian Jensen said Denmark would no longer have a system where "refugees become immigrants."
