Various Democratic lawmakers placed transgender pride flags outside their Capitol Hill offices to protest Trump's military ban and commemorate “Trans Visibility Week."

Reports reveal the move came at the direction of the “National Center for Transgender Equality.”

According to the group's tweet, it had delivered the flags to every member of Congress including Republicans, requesting that they hang them outside their offices.

The first to respond was progressive Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who tweeted a photo of his office with the transgender flag displayed:

"Discrimination has no place in our society. I am proud to display this flag as a symbol of my support for transgender people across the country. We must stand with transgender people in all of our community."

Democratic lawmaker Rep. Kim Schrier, D-Wash., was pictured with the transgender pride flag instead of the POW/MIA flag.

“As a proud member of the @LGBTEqCaucus,” Schrier tweeted late Wednesday morning.

“I will do everything I can to make sure transgender people #WontBeErased by violence, fear or prejudice. I am committed to safety and equality for all. #TransVisibilityWeek"

Rep. Adam Smith and D-Wash., displayed their transgender fags alongside the POW/MIA flag.

The Trump administration began its policy to restrict transgender people from serving in the military.

In January this year, The Supreme Court granted the Trump administration the power to begin imposing its policy restricting transgender people from serving in the military.

The court voted 5-4 to grant Justice Department requests to delay lower court orders that prevented Trump from allowing the ban to take effect nationwide.

But justices appointed by Democratic presidents voted to deny the Trump administration’s application to halt the lower court rulings, these included Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who had also placed a transgender pride flag outside her office, said:

“There is no moral justification for this ban which violates every value of our American democracy.”

Last Tuesday she tweeted:

Trump's trans ban is designed to humiliate brave Americans. It is deeply concerning that DoD officials appear to have given inaccurate testimony to Congress to justify a discriminatory policy.

We must ensure that hate doesn't dictate our national security.
