Nancy Pelosi Says Impeachment is a 'Gift' To Donald Trump
Democratic House Speaker doubles down on abandoning efforts against the president
Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doubled down on her recent declaration of abandoning efforts to impeach Presdient Donald Trump, arguing that it is helping rather than hurting him.
Last week, Pelosi acknowledged that the Democrats don't have anything on Trump as she announced that she is longer working to impeach him.
But now, the House speaker admitted that impeachment efforts would be in vain.
"You're wasting your time unless the evidence is so conclusive that the Republicans will understand," Pelosi told USA Today.
"Otherwise, it's a gift to the president. We take our eye off the ball."
Pelosi said the Democrats should move their focus away from impeachment and concentrate if passing legislation they campaigned on, such as healthcare.
Pelosi told the Washington post she did not support Trump's impeachment calling the president “ethically unfit,” "intellectually unfit,” and “curiosity-wise unfit.”
“Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it," she told The Washington Post.
But despite Speaker Pelosi's statements, House Democrats aren’t giving up on attempting to impeach President Trump.
I greatly appreciate Nancy Pelosi’s statement against impeachment, but everyone must remember the minor fact that I never did anything wrong, the Economy and Unemployment are the best ever, Military and Vets are great - and many other successes! How do you impeach....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 13, 2019
....a man who is considered by many to be the President with the most successful first two years in history, especially when he has done nothing wrong and impeachment is for “high crimes and misdemeanors”?— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 13, 2019
“I happen to disagree with that take,” New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio Cortez told the Washington Examiner Monday night, responding to the Pelosi statement.
“But you know, she’s the speaker. … I think we’ll see.”
Trump responded to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) recent comments that she is giving up on seeking his impeachment.
“I greatly appreciate Nancy Pelosi’s statement against impeachment, but everyone must remember the minor fact that I never did anything wrong,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
“The Economy and Unemployment are the best ever, Military and Vets are great – and many other successes!”
After the Democrats won the majority in the House of Representatives, the agenda has seemingly been 'impeach Trump,' but without any evidence to back it up.
