Doctor: No Evidence Late-Term Abortion Protects Mother’s Health
Kansas Rep. Roger W. Marshall writes alarming op-ed for Fox News
An op-ed written by Doctor and Kansas Rep. Roger W. Marshall described how he could not think of a single scenario where late-term abortion would improve a mother's health in any way.
“To this day, I can’t think of a single scenario where I thought a late-term abortion would help to improve a woman’s mental health,” according to the doctors Fox News op-ed.
“Contrary to the pro-abortion movement, regardless of the mother’s underlying medical health, I never saw the scenario where we had to choose between a mom’s life and a baby,” Marshall wrote.
Writing from experience, Marshal was delivered more than 5,000 babies in Western Kansas for over 25 years.
He also worked as OB-GYN at a state mental health hospital and prison.
Marshall claims that the women are at higher risks from uterine perforation and life-threatening hemorrhaging when having late-term abortions.
The doctor also claims that procedures also pose a high risk of infection, infertility, and permanent scarring.
“Point blank, late-term abortions are unsafe and are more dangerous than naturally occurring childbirth in almost any situation,” Marshall wrote.
Some states, including Rhode Island and Vermont, are examining proposals to extend abortion access enabling women to abort in the late stages of pregnancy.
Last month Democratic lawmakers signed a bill legalizing abortions right up until birth in New York.
The Reproductive Health Act passed on Tuesday evening in a 38-24 vote and was signed into law by NY Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY).
Democratic legislators legalized abortion up until birth by removing the fatal procedure from the state's criminal code when they passed the euphemistically named Reproductive Health Act.
Marshall slammed New York’s law “inhumane.”
“I urge you to tell all of your elected federal officials to support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which is the first step to immediately protect those babies who have survived botched abortions and mandate that they receive proper medical care,” the doctor said.
The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would mandate babies born alive after an abortion, allowing them the “same protection of the law as any newborn.”
Democrats have been accused of promoting "child sacrifices" due to their recent push for late-term abortion.
President Donald Trump even addressed the issue during his historic State of the Union address on Tuesday night, saying that "lawmakers cheered with delight" as NY passed the legislation.
