Nancy Pelosi's Popularity Plummets Over Shutdown, New Poll Shows
NBC/WSJ poll shows Democratic House speaker's popularity has sunk

While Democrats are declaring victory over the shutdown battle with President Donald Trump, Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's popularity has plummeted to new lows, according to a recent poll.
A new NBC/WSJ poll now shows Nancy Pelosi as one of the least popular politicians in America after the border security dispute that triggered the partial government shutdown.
The poll shows Pelosi's net favorability (positive minus negative) is now at -19, which is by far the most unpopular politician tested in the survey.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is more unpopular than both President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
Political reporter Josh Kraushaar tweeted a breakdown of the results:

According to Conservative Review, the percentage of respondents with a “very negative” of Pelosi actually increased by six points from 28 percent in December to 34 percent in January.
President Trump’s “very negative” numbers held at 43 percent over the last month, and McConnell’s numbers actually improved by one point.
Pelosi’s total numbers show a 19-point gap between her positives and negatives, larger than McConnell (18 points) and Trump (12 points).
But the headlines don’t mention that.
NBC News’ write-up of the poll focused on how “six-in-10 Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, and nearly 70 percent of them have negative opinions on the state of the nation today.”
President Trump’s approval rating has held at 43 percent approval, with 54 percent of those polled disapproving of Trump’s performance in office.
Other recent polls have shown President Trump’s approval rating taking a hit during the shutdown.
Many Americans may think the country is on the wrong track because of the government shutdown, but assigning all the blame to President Trump doesn’t reflect reality.

Last Friday morning, President Trump tweeted “I like the fact that the President is making the case (Border Security & Crime) to the American people. Now we know where Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer & the Democrats stand, which is no Border Security. Will be big 2020 issue.’ Matt Schlapp, Chair, ACU. Bigger than anyone knows!”

He added, “21 days goes very quickly. Negotiations with Democrats will start immediately. Will not be easy to make a deal, both parties very dug in. The case for National Security has been greatly enhanced by what has been happening at the Border & through dialogue. We will build the Wall!”

President Trump appears determined to continue pushing the Democrats on the issue of border security and highlighting their refusal to protect the American people.
His strategy may very well pay off in the polls.
