Democrat Endorses Killing Born-Alive Baby if Mother ‘Doesn’t Want It’
Democratic Virginia Governor Ralph Northam pushes for horrific new 'abortion' laws
The Democrats' pro-abortion push took a far more disturbing turn this week when Virginia's Democratic Governor Ralph Northam endorsed a change in the law that would allow for the killing of a newborn baby if the mother decides, after the birth, that she doesn't want it.
Gov. Northam, a supposed moderate, backed the notion that a woman should be able to give birth to a child, and if she decides that she doesn't want it, the baby would be left to die on the table.
The statement from Northam follows news of a new bill that was proposed by VA Democratic Delegate Kathy Tran late last week, in Virginia's House of Delegates, that would allow abortions to take place up until the moment of birth.
Introduced as HB2491, the Repeal Act would eliminate all existing restrictions on abortion in the state of Virginia.
According to the Daily Wire, while appearing on WTOP’s Ask The Governor, Northam was asked whether he supported Tran’s statement that Virginia Democrats’ proposed legislation would permit abortion for a woman in labor.
"This is why decisions such as this should be made by providers, physicians, and the mothers and fathers that are involved.
"When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of the mother, with the consent of physicians, more than one physician by the way, and it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus which is non-viable.
"So in this particular example, if the mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if this is what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physician and the mother."
This is pure infanticide.
It's also an argument for eugenic murder (see his comments about deformities).
Northam is specifically talking about delivering an infant alive and then asking the mother whether the infant should live or not.
This is not an argument about the morning-after pill.
It’s not an argument over whether a fetus feels pain.
This is a statement that a fully-formed infant, born alive, ought to be murdered if the mother says the infant ought to be murdered.
This is pure evil.
And yet this is the position of Democrats across the country.
Northam was speaking about a bill proposed by Virginia House member Kathy Tran, which would legalize abortion up to birth.
Tran had explained just yesterday that a woman should be able to opt for abortion as she is dilating for birth.
In New York, this is already the law – and Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) celebrated that new law by illuminating state monuments pink in honor of the killing of fully-formed infants.
In Rhode Island, Governor Gina Raimondo (D-RI) has already signaled that she wishes to support a similar law.
Northam excuses his evil by stating that men shouldn’t be making these decisions – as though having male genitalia excuses the moral fecklessness necessary to stand by and watch the killing of a newborn baby.
But this is no excuse, obviously.
The Democrats have decided that the era of safe, legal, and rare is over – the era of “Shout Your Abortion” is here, even if that means dehumanizing already-born children.
President Trump criticized the proposed Virginia law that would allow women to terminate a pregnancy up to the moment before birth, calling it "terrible" and promising it would "lift up the whole pro-life movement like maybe it’s never been lifted up before."
Trump discussed the bill in an interview with The Daily Caller that was published late Wednesday.
According to Fox News, the legislation became a subject of outrage among conservatives after a video emerged of Virginia Democratic Delegate Kathy Tran answering questions about the bill during a committee hearing.
At one point, Tran was asked if a woman about to give birth and dilating could still request an abortion.
"My bill would allow that, yes," Tran answered.
"I thought it was terrible," Trump said of Tran's statements.
"Do you remember when I said [during a 2016 presidential debate] Hillary Clinton was willing to rip the baby out of the womb?
"That’s what it is, that’s what they’re doing, it’s terrible."
Governor Northam's comments were met with further outrage from Republican lawmakers, who accused the governor of endorsing infanticide.
The strongest statement came from Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., who called Northam's remarks "morally repugnant."
"In just a few years, pro-abortion zealots went from 'safe, legal, and rare' to 'keep the newborns comfortable while the doctor debates infanticide,'" Sasse said.
"I don't care what party you’re from — if you can’t say that it’s wrong to leave babies to die after birth, get the hell out of public office."
