The United States is cutting off Venezuela’s ousted President Nicolas Maduro from oil revenue to remove him from power.

President Trump announced his recognition of Venezuela's new leader Juan Guaido earlier this week."

"The citizens of Venezuela have suffered for too long at the hands of the illegitimate Maduro regime."

"Today, I have officially recognized the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Juan Guaido, as the Interim President of Venezuela."

But rioters have demanded President Maduro resigns, protesting against his socialist regime in Venezuela which has caused extreme inflation and food shortages.

US national security adviser John Bolton has confirmed Washington will completely stop the cash Maduro receives and allocate it to Mr. Guaido instead.

Russin leader Vladimir Putin declared his support for the elected government of Venezuela before criticizing “destructive external meddling” from external foreign powers.

Putin vowed support to the legitimate authorities of Venezuela as tens of thousands ousted the country's "illegitimate" leader, Nicolas Maduro, with US President Donald Trump declaring on Wednesday that he would recognize the opposition leader as interim head.

According to The Express: This comes as oil prices fell by two percent on Tuesday due to fear of a global economic slowdown.

A rise in US Crude output is fuelling concern among traders and investors that growth in global supply will outweigh demand.

Venezuela is one of the world’s biggest oil exporters so giving Mr. Guaido the oil power would strengthen him.

Millions of Venezuelans have escaped the country in response to crippling living conditions, and analysts blamed experienced oil workers leaving the country for crude output dropping so dramatically in recent years.

Mr. Bolton said:

"What we're focusing on today is disconnecting the illegitimate Maduro regime from the sources of his revenues.

"We think consistent with our recognition of Juan Guaido as the interim constitutional president of Venezuela that those revenues should go to the legitimate government."

Mr. Guaido has said this was “the beginning of the end” for Mr. Maduro while he pledged to guarantee humanitarian aid and introduce new economic measures.

He said: “Our challenge is to secure free elections, and we want them as soon as possible.

"But we are living in a dictatorship.

The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has described Maduro’s government as “morally bankrupt” and “undemocratic to the core.”

Following America's lead, Argentina, Guatemala, Brasil, and Peru have all come out in support of opposition leader Guaido.
