An asylum seeker who is accused of stabbing his 16-year-old girlfriend to death in Austria will not face deportation because he is reportedly wanted on murder charges in his own country.

But Austrian authorities do not want to deport people who are facing the death penalty in another country.

The migrant suspect, who arrived in Austria in 2016 by human traffickers, handed himself into Vienna police after reportedly escaping through a window of his girlfriend Michelle’s bedroom.

Akhondzada's girlfriend was discovered lying lifeless having sustained two deadly stabs wounds in the back, according to an autopsy.

The couple had a recurring row as Akhondzada grew more possessive of Michelle.

Akhondzada was also denied asylum after he signed up for it upon arrival in Austria.

Thomas Stelzer, of the conservative Austrian People's Party, said in a statement on Tuesday that the country is s seeing “rising crime amongst young asylum seekers", especially among Afghans.

According to the DM: The girl's mother went to check on her daughter and her Afghan boyfriend.

She was reportedly powerless to open the bedroom door because a bedroom cabinet blocked it.

When the woman managed to get into the room, she discovered the lifeless body of her daughter.

An autopsy showed Michelle died from two stab wounds in her back, with one stab puncturing her lung.

According to the Steyr Police, Akhondzada was no longer in the room when the woman entered having managed to escape through an open window.

During investigation yesterday, he denied murder, saying Michelle died by “accident," according to the Sun.

If sentenced, he faces 15 years in prison.

State Governor of Upper Austria, Thomas Stelzer, of the conservative Austrian People's Party and state MP Herwig Mahr of the far-right Freedom Party of Austria will speak about the murder at the next session of state parliament.
