A 69-year-old Dutchman, who identifies as a 45-year old, has lost his bid to legally reduce his age by more than 20 years, according to reports.

Emile Ratelband appealed to Dutch authorities to legally reduce his age by 20 years because he does not 'feel' like a pensioner.

Ratelband insisted that reducing his age to 49 would help him 'get work' and attract more women on dating apps like Tinder.

The self-styled 'positivity guru' petitioned the court in Arnhem to formally alter his date of birth from March 11, 1949, to March 11, 1969.

Ratelband argued that his appeal was consistent with other applications of personal transformation, such as changing one's name or gender.

According to the Monday ruling, the court said that Dutch law authorizes rights and obligations based on age 'such as the right to vote and the duty to attend school.

'If Mr. Ratelband's request were allowed, those age requirements would become meaningless.'

'Mr. Ratelband is at liberty to feel 20 years younger than his real age and to act accordingly,' Arnhem court said in an official press statement.

'But amending his date of birth would cause 20 years of records to vanish from the register of births, deaths, marriages and registered partnerships. This would have a variety of undesirable legal and societal implications.'

Although the court acknowledged 'a trend in society for people to feel fit and healthy for longer,' it declared that it was 'not a legitimate argument for altering a person's date of birth.'

The court added Ratelband failed to satisfy the court that he was suffering from age discrimination.

Adding that 'there are other alternatives available for challenging age discrimination, rather than amending a person's date of birth.'

Mr. Ratelband instead he should be allowed to alter his date of birth because he had the body of a 45-year-old.

He claimed that t 'when you behave like a young man, your body takes the same shape.'

Ratelband, who is a consultant and self-help guru, claimed that an 'age reduction' would allow him to pick up more girls.

'When I'm on Tinder, and it says I'm 69, I don't get an answer. When I'm 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position,' Ratelband said.
