A prominent Romanian politician gave EU officials the middle finger right in the middle of a packed assembly.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Florin Iordache was captured on video storming out the speaker’s podium before thrusting both middle fingers at officials.

The outburst was a response to growing pressure from the European Commission on the Balkan state concerning accusations of corruption.

The EU published a report that scrutinized the eastern European nation for 'democratic backsliding.'

But Mr. Iordache asserted that the government would continue a questionable drive to modernize the judiciary and to eliminate prosecutors who are cracking down on graft.

The reviled politician said: “We’ll go on despite all the opposition from the European Commission.

“We want to be independent, we want to make the decisions according to our constitution and not because of the pressure coming from other quarters.”

According to the Express: This is not the first time Mr. Iordache has come under fire. Last year, he backed a decree that catalyzed Romania’s greatest protests since the Ceausescu era.

The repudiation follows a string of similarly polemical speeches given in Hungary and Poland - two other ex-Communist states that are proving resistant to the EU’s directives.

The lash-out follows growing concerns that the future of the EU is looking turbulent.

The UK's own departure from the European Union is hitting major stumbling blocks after seven ministers resigned over Theresa May's withdrawal agreement.

Former Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab departed yesterday morning, citing issues with the backstop and the break-up of the Union as being instrumental in his decision to leave office.
