A national manhunt is underway after a migrant gang entered a store and threw acid in a 3-year-old boy's face during an attack described as "deliberate" by police.

The child has been rushed to hospital suffering severe burns to his face, head, shoulder, and arms.

The young boy's condition is "serious," police have said.

Police are searching for the gang responsible for the attack, and have arrested one man in connection to the group, but the three migrants who attacked the boy are still at large.

According to officers, the toddler was "deliberately targeted" in the attack which occurred at around 2.15pm on Saturday in Home Bargains in Worcester, UK.

Witnesses report that the three men, described as "migrants," walked into the store on Shrub Hill Retail Park, Tallow Hill, and attacked the infant boy completely unprovoked.

Sky News reports: West Mercia Police have released images of three men they would like to speak to and have appealed for anyone with information about the incident.

Chief Superintendent Mark Travis said:

"At this time we are treating this as a deliberate attack on a three-year-old boy."

He said the incident will "rightly shock the local community" and that police are carrying out a thorough investigation to identify those responsible.

The motive of the attack is unclear at this time.

Officers are working to establish exactly what happened and what the substance involved was.
