Trump took a 'huge and important step' say Per-Willy Amundsen and Christian Tybring-Gjedde

President Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize following his recent 'historic' meeting with North Korea's Kim Jong-un at the nuclear weapons summit.

Trump has now been put forward for the coveted honor by two politicians in host nation Norway.

Per-Willy Amundsen and Christian Tybring-Gjedde explained how Trump took a “huge and important step” towards peace in the Korean Peninsular, something no other President has achieved.

A process is underway to ensure world peace in the future. It’s a fragile process, but we must, of course, do what we can to help this process yield good results" Mr. Amundsen said

“I believe we can accomplish this by sending a clear signal, namely by awarding Trump the Nobel Peace Prize.”

Former basketball star Dennis Rodman got very emotional about the 'beautiful moment' meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korea leader Kim Jong-un.

The express reports: The Oslo-based panel has closed nominations for the 2018 prize, so Mr Trump’s Singapore triumph could not bear fruit until the next winner is announced in October 2019.

Trump and Jong-un signed a deal to steer North Korea towards denuclearization, in exchange for reduced economic sanctions from America.

But critics claim Mr Trump made too many concessions to the 34-year old dictator and handed him undeserved status on the world stage.

US secretary of state Mike Pompeo admitted later there was still “a lot of work left to do” and that Washington wanted to see “major disarmament” in the next two years.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump dismissed legal action against his charitable foundation for alleged illegal conduct.

He attacked “sleazy New York Democrats” after state attorney general Barbara Underwood accused the Donald J. Trump Foundation and its directors of conducting “extensive unlawful political coordination”.

The allegations include irregular support for Mr Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. But the President hit back on Twitter, insisting he would defend the record of a body which “gave out to charity more money than it took in”.

And in the week of the historic meeting with Kim Jong-un, Donald Trump turned 72 yesterday without fanfare, but daughter Ivanka, 36, and son Donald Jr, 40, posted greetings on social media.

Ivanka tweeted: “Happy, happy birthday Dad! I love you very much. Wishing you your best year yet!”
