Elon Musk says ‘woke mind virus’ makes Netflix ‘unwatchable’

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has weighed in on the news that the share price of Netflix has plummetted by 20%, remarking that "the woke mind virus" has made the streaming service "unwatchable."

On Tuesday, Netflix reported that it lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022.

The company is also bracing for 2 million lost subscribers in the second quarter.

News of the report caused shares in Netflix to drop by more than 20% in after-hours trading.

Replying to a Slashdot post about the drop on Twitter, Musk commented that “the woke mind virus is making Netflix unwatchable.”

When machine learning engineer Pranay Pathole in turn argued that the “woke mind virus is the biggest threat to the civilization,” Musk replied with a simple “yes.”

Netflix has garnered backlash from viewers on numerous occasions due to its bend toward woke politics and sexually explicit content.

Boston University academic and Critical Race Theory advocate Ibram X. Kendi worked with Netflix to adapt his book “Antiracist Baby” into an animated kids’ show.

Chris Nee — the creator of Disney Junior’s hit “Doc McStuffins” — joined Kendi in the project.

“Antiracist Baby” introduces “the youngest readers and the grown-ups in their lives to the concept and power of antiracism.”

A statement from Netflix said Kendi himself would be producing the show.

Meanwhile, Kendi’s book “Stamped from the Beginning” — which argues that “racist thought is alive and well in America” — would take the form of a documentary.

A third Kendi production would center upon “Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, & You,” which is directed toward the young adult audience.

In October 2020, Netflix began creating a show about the life of Colin Kaepernick — a former San Francisco 49ers quarterback who gained notoriety for kneeling during the national anthem, as well as later suggesting the NFL draft bears a resemblance to slavery.

"With his act of protest, Colin Kaepernick ignited a national conversation about race and justice with far-reaching consequences for football, culture, and for him, personally,” the series’ director said in a press release.

"Colin’s story has much to say about identity, sports, and the enduring spirit of protest and resilience.

"I couldn’t be happier than to tell this story with the team at Netflix.”

Also in the fall of 2020, Netflix subscription cancellations soared by 800% amid reaction to the company’s release of Cuties — a pro-pedophile French film that depicts pre-pubescent girls in sexually provocative situations.

Netflix defended the film as a “social commentary against the sexualization of young children.”

Musk — who is indeed no friend to corporate wokeness — is currently attempting to take over Twitter in the interest of maximizing its capacity as a free speech platform.

Musk’s move to purchase a 9.2% stake in the social media firm triggered “fear” among some Twitter employees who worry that the entrepreneur will alter Twitter’s “corporate culture” of “inclusivity.”
