Trump Says He Knew Democrats Were Spying on Him: 'The Wires Were Burning Up!'

President Donald Trump has revealed the moment when he knew for sure that Democrats were spying on him.
During an interview with conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, Trump was asked:
"You said from the very beginning, 'They're spying on us.' How did you know that was happening?"
Trump responded:
"I think it was a combination of things, but I tell you, the world blew up when I did that,' he said.
The 45th president said the moment came during his 2016 contest against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and "somebody suggested" that then-President Barack Obama's White House was spying on the Trump campaign.

"I felt there was something strange going on, really strange, and I just put it out," Trump said.
"I got a call like two minutes later from the head of communications saying … 'the wires are burning up. They're smoking,'" despite it being a Saturday, as he recalled.
"And now I know why," Trump continued.
"Because, they said, 'Oh my God, they caught us.'"

In 2016, the FBI launched an investigation to find out whether Trump's campaign was colluding with the Russian government.
But after a two-year investigation conducted by special counsel Robert Mueller, funded by the taxpayer, it was concluded Trump had not.
In 2020, then-Attorney General William Barr appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to probe the origins of the Russia probe after the lack of the necessary predicate to be undertaken by the FBI.
So far, Durham has indicted three people:
Michael Sussman, an attorney formerly with the Perkins Coie, a law firm with deep attachments to the Democratic Party and the Clinton campaign
Former FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith
Democratic operative Igor Danchenko.

Former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe told special counsel John Durham he believed he had passed on "enough evidence" for the indictments of "multiple people" relating to the origins of the Russia probe which targeted President Donald Trump.
According to Fox News, "sources pointed to one key piece of declassified intelligence revealing that intelligence community officials within the CIA forwarded an investigative referral on Hillary Clinton purportedly approving 'a plan concerning U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server.'"
As we reported earlier this week, Special Counsel John Durham filed a motion in federal court alleging that Hillary Clinton's political allies spied on Donald Trump as a presidential candidate and as the president using cell phone data.
The motion was filed in the case of former Clinton Campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann, who was charged with lying to the FBI about whether he was working for the campaign after telling the FBI about the link between Trump and Russia, which turned out to be untrue.
Sussmann was a partner at Perkins Coie, which hired Fusion GPS to produce the false Russia "dossier" on Trump at the behest of the Clinton campaign.
Durham's filing deals with a possible conflict of interest involving Sussmann's legal representation from Latham & Watkins LLP, which also represented others in the investigation "whose interests may conflict with those of the defendant."
