The CEO of YouTube is calling on governments around the world to make "harmful" speech illegal to help Big Tech companies' censorship efforts.

Susan Wojcicki acknowledges that YouTube’s policy of censoring legal content that it deems to be “harmful” is controversial due to free speech laws.

In an effort to get around the public's freedom of speech, Wojcicki is demanding that governments step in and pass stronger speech laws.

She made disturbing comments about censorship during an interview with TIDETVhamburg.

Speaking to the outlet, Wojcicki revealed that YouTube wants to freely lean on a policy that allows the company to censor currently-legal content with a so-called “harmful” rating.

Wojcicki explained that YouTube is already pressuring governments around the world to pass laws the platform can easily enforce.

"We work around the globe, and you’re right, certainly there are many different laws and many different jurisdictions, and we…enforce the laws of the various jurisdictions around speech or what’s considered safe or not safe,” Wojcicki said.

"What has been the controversial part is when there is content that would be deemed as harmful but yet is not illegal.

"An example of that, for example, would be COVID.

"I’m not aware of there being laws by governments saying around COVID in terms of not being able to debate the efficacy of masks or where the virus came from or the right treatment or proposal, but yet there was a lot of pressure and concern about us distributing misinformation that went against what was the standard and accepted medical knowledge.

"And so this category of harmful but…legal has been, I think, where most of the discussion has been.”

This news comes after Democrat Joe Biden's administration recently pressured audio streaming platform Spotify to censor content creators who question the government's narrative.

As Neon Nettle reported earlier this month, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki called on Spotify to crack down on Joe Rogan by doing more to censor the podcaster on the platform.

Psaki argued that Spotify isn't doing enough to censor Rogan after the platform announced it would warn users that his podcasts contain "misinformation."

However, Democrat Joe Biden's administration believes that the censorship effort doesn't go far enough.

Psaki was asked if Spotify “should go further than” just applying a new label to warn people away from Rogan.
