The White House claims Biden created the most monthly jobs ever

The White House has been met with widespread mockery after posting a graph on Twitter that claims Joe Biden has created the most monthly jobs ever.

According to the White House, more jobs were created under Biden than any other president in history.

"Under President Biden, the economy has created more jobs per month than under any other President – ever,” the White House tweeted Friday.

The tweet included a graph that claimed to show that Biden "created" more than 550,000 monthly jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

According to the graph, Biden’s numbers were orders of magnitude higher than those achieved by President Donald Trump, who allegedly "lost" more than 50,000 jobs during his tenure.

According to the graph, President Barack Obama gained more than 100,000 jobs, President George W. Bush gained fewer than 50,000, President Bill Clinton gained between 200-250,000; President George H.W. Bush gained just over 50,000, and President Ronald Reagan gained just over 150,000 jobs month-over-month.

During a CNN town hall in October, Biden boasted, "We’ve created more jobs in the first eight months of my administration than any president in American history — total number of jobs created."

PolitiFact conducted a fact check on Biden's statement.

"The raw numbers support Biden’s claim, but the talking point glosses over the reality that the U.S. economy remains about 5 million jobs under its pre-pandemic peak," the fact-checking outlet determined.

"It also ignores that adjusting for population growth would have made Carter first, rather than Biden."

The fact check also noted, "But what phase of expansion the economy is in at the precise moment of their inauguration can play a big role in how a president’s first months go economically."

The Twitter reactions saw a multitude of commenters who were dubious of the claim.

The cynics asserted that many of the jobs "created" were workers returning to the workforce after not working because of the pandemic and government restrictions related to the pandemic.

Especially since there are no longer mass lockdowns across the country like there were in 2020.

Notable responses on Twitter include:

Digital director Logan Hall: "Sleight of hand. Vast majority of these were return from state lockdown."

Progressive radio host Kim Iversen: "I can’t believe the White House tweeted this. This is just another example of their gaslighting."'

Former Republican Rep. Mark Walker: "The Biden Administration arguably had the worst first year of any Presidency in history.

"But according to the White House, Biden has created as many jobs per month than the previous six presidents combined. Please clap."

Former Republican congressional candidate Kimberly Klacik: "Joe Biden saying he created more jobs per month than any other President is like saying the hospitals are overrun after firing staff for refusing the vaccine. It’s a zero-sum game."

Podcast host Eric Matheny: "If a job is lost due to the government forcing you to close your business or alternatively, economic factors related to government overreach cause the job to be lost, and then the job is available again once business resumes, a job is not 'created.'"

Pennsylvania state Rep. David Rowe: "The fact that no one in the comments is buying this propaganda gives me hope for our future."

Cato Institute Senior Fellow Scott Lincicome: "I like to imagine the annoyed WH economist tasked with creating this chart, knowing just how silly it is. Pretty funny tbh."

Business consultant Taylor Welch: "Classic 'How to Lie With Statistics' graph right here."

Rep. Burgess Owens (R-Utah): "Over half of the created jobs were consulting gigs for Hunter."

A Biden supporter noted: "I voted for Biden but this graph is hardcore misleading. Jobs created and filled are not the same thing.

"Additionally this kinda leaves out 3-4 million resignations on a month by month basis."

A Twitter user tweeted: "They think you're dumb."

One commenter said: "This level of propaganda would make Joseph Stalin blush."

Another commenter added: "Just to clarify. 'Created' means these jobs did not exist before, ever. Is that correct? If so, great job!

"If this is nothing other than filling jobs that were eliminated because of a global pandemic then it's a phony victory lap."

One person said: "The jobs, claimed to be created, are the jobs those were lost during pandemic.

"The government uses statistics to fool the taxpayers.

"However, it is 2022, there are no fools to believe such misinformation."

Another Twitter user wrote: "Only the federal government is capable of creating this math."

Even Washington Post “fact-checker” Glenn Kessler took issue with the White House’s claims.

"A huge problem with this apples-and-oranges chart: It compares monthly job growth of 4- and 8-year terms with just one year of Biden,” Kessler wrote.

"Trump used to do the same thing — until his record was spoiled by the job losses in his last year.

"Don’t count your chickens before they hatch."
