Vice President Kamala Harris praised GOP Rep. Liz Cheney for her "courage to speak truth" during an interview on PBS NewsHour.

In a statement last year, Cheney blamed then-President Donald Trump for the Jan. 6 riot and accused him of encouraging the protesters.

Cheney said Trump "summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack."

Cheney's quote was read aloud by Judy Woodruff of PBS before asking Harris whether the lawmaker was correct in her statement.

"Yes," Harris said.

"I applaud her courage to speak truth."

Cheney voted in favor of impeaching then-President Trump following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Cheney was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach the 45th President.

The RINO Republican has been increasingly outspoken against Trump since she was ousted from her role as House Republican Conference chair.

The lawmaker is one of the only two Republican members on the select committee tasked with "investigating" the Jan. 6 episode.

Meanwhile, Harris compared the Capitol attack to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II and the 9/11 terror attacks.

"Certain dates echo throughout history, including dates that instantly remind all who had lived through them where they were, and what they were doing when our democracy came under assault," Harris said.

"Dates that occupy not only a place on our calendars, but a place in our collective memory: December 7th, 1941, September 11th, 2001, and January 6th, 2021."

Last year, Cheney (R-WY) attacked Trump as "dangerous and irrational" and accused him of being a "domestic threat."

"Republican" Cheney lambasted Trump and his supporters in the GOP during a Tuesday speech at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire.

The Wyoming congresswoman accused Trump of working against the Constitution and the rule of law.

"At this moment when it matters most, we are also confronting a domestic threat that we've never faced before: a former president who's attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional Republic, aided by political leaders who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man," said Cheney.

As the Daily Mail reported, Cheney said there is "no question" Trump's officials tried to undermine the election results.

Cheney told CNN's, Jake Tapper:

"The president of the United States is responsible for ensuring the laws are faithfully executed; he's responsible for the security of the branches."

"So for the President to, either through his action or inaction, for example, attempt to impede or obstruct the counting of electoral votes, which is an official function of Congress, the committee is looking at that, whether what he did constitutes that kind of a crime."

"But certainly it's a dereliction of duty."
