Father killed in front of daughter during brutal attack outside family home

A dad has been beaten to death in front of his young daughter while hanging Christmas lights outside his family home in Chicago, police say.
49-year-old father-of-three Jose Téllez was attacked by two men who struck him in the head with “blunt objects.”
Accoridng to police, the horrific attack took place outside Mr. Téllez's Gage Park home on Saturday evening.
After hearing Tellez’s young daughter screaming during the attack, a neighbor told Fox32 that she found the victim holding the Christmas lights and bleeding profusely in his front yard.
“My dad, my dad, he’s hurt,” the little girl told the neighbor.
“I told her to get a blanket to put on his head,” the neighbor said. “There was a lot of blood.”

Though he was rushed to a local hospital, Téllez died from his injuries.
Téllez son, David, told WFLD-TV that his father is irreplaceable.
"My dad, you know, he was a hard worker. He tried to give us everything we needed," he said.
"He was just the best dad."
Téllez's friend and neighbor, Silverio Nodal, said that the late man was best described as "a family man" and "a hardworking guy."

Nodal added that neighbors ought to look out for one another.
"Something must be done, should be done," Nodal said.
"It’s not only the police work.
"We as individuals, what can we do for our neighbors, what are we contributing?"
"It's a shame," Nodal said.
"This is supposed to be the best season, the Christmas season.
"It’s a family thing.
"These things shouldn’t be happening.
"It’s a big shock for all of us."
A GoFundMe page to defer the cost of the late dad's funeral and to benefit his family has received more than $26,000 in donations at the time of this reporting.
Authorities continue to investigate the vicious attack, and the station reports that as of Monday, police did not have any suspects in custody.
Téllez leaves behind a distraught wife and three children.
