Pedophile Racks up over 1,200 Counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child
Florida man charged with child abuse and incest

A Florida man is facing 600 counts of sexual assault against a child and another 600 accounts of incest in one of the most disturbing cases in the state's history.
In total, Robert Cota, 31, racked up more than 1,200 counts of sexual abuse of a child, WEAR-TV reported.
Cota is now being held in Escambia County Jail on a $3 million bond.
The crimes began in 2015, police said, according to WEAR.
The arrests came after a local pastor told Escambia County Sheriff’s Office that Cota came to see him.

Deputies said the pastor told them that Cota “had issues with one of the beliefs” in the church book of guidelines.
He pointed to the specific word “incest.”
The pastor urged Cota to turn himself into authorities.

The pastor then gave deputies information that Cota had completed while attending a new member’s event, WKRG-TV reported.

The sheet contained Cota’s address and phone number.

The victim informed police the sexual abuse began when she was seven years old, WEAR reported.
Cota told her that sexual abuse was a sign of affection, claiming it was the law.
The abuse surfaced last September when the victim’s mother caught Cota in bed with the girl.
Cota was arrested for aggravated assault domestic violence and charged with pointing a gun at the victim.
The victim's mother informed police both Cota and the girl told her of their relationship, WEAR reported.
But they later retracted their statements.
Cota told deputies who came to arrest him on these latest charges that he was not surprised to face the allegations, WEAR reported.
