Two Little Rock men have pleaded guilty to raping a 6-year-old girl and conspiracy to commit child sex trafficking.

The men were arrested after the girl was sent to the hospital with sexually transmitted diseases.

On Wednesday afternoon, Demarcus George, 27, entered a guilty plea in federal court for years after the girl was sent to hospital with STDs.

Mario Waters, 33, also pleaded guilty.

The pair admitted to raping the girl and said they were involved in trafficking her and others.

Due to their guilty pleas, their jury trial, which was scheduled to begin on November 15, has been canceled.

US District Judge Brian Miller is expected to sentence the men later this year.

Both face life in prison.

The 6-year-old girl was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital in February 2018 after suffering symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases.

Hospital doctors said it was unlikely that the child had obtained the diseases from the same man, concluding multiple rapes.

The FBI then interviewed the girl who said the two men - later determined to be George and Waters - had raped her.

She described the rape in a hotel room with a curtain in the middle of the room, and a picture hanging on the wall.

According to financial records, the child's mother had rented a room at the hotel in March 2018.

The child has since been removed from her mother's custody.

Police officers then obtained search warrants for George and Waters' blood and urine and found they both tested positive for the sexually transmitted diseases the girl contracted.

"The unspeakable crimes committed against this child remind us how vitally important it is to have law enforcement officers willing to investigate and put a stop to these horrific actions," Acting US Attorney Jonathan D. Ross said in a statement following George's guilty plea.

"These guilty pleas will spare the young victim from having to relive her experience on the witness stand at a trial," he noted, adding:

"Our law enforcement partners work hard every day to protect children from this abuse, and our office will continue to aggressively pursue those who commit these deplorable crimes."
