Sen. Bill Cassidy argues that aging politicians should have annual senility tests

A top U.S. senator is calling for American politicians in all three branches of government to begin undergoing annual senility tests when they reach a certain age.

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), a physician, said older leaders, such as Democrat Joe Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) should be regularly tested.

Cassidy made the call for cognition tests during a recent appearance of “Axios on HBO."

People generally begin a “rapid decline” when they hit 80 years old, Cassidy, a gastroenterologist, explained

“It’s usually noticeable,” the senator said, Axios reported.

“So anybody in a position of responsibility who may potentially be on that slope, that is of concern."

"And I’m saying this as a doctor," Cassidy asserted.

"I’m told that there have been senators in the past who, at the end of their Senate terms were senile,” Cassidy added.

"I’m told that was true of senators of both parties.”

Axios noted that science shows that “we lose something” as we age, emphasizing that our current leading politicians are nearing their 80s, if they haven’t already hit the milestone.

Biden is 78 years old, Pelosi is 81, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is 70, and McConnell is 79, accoridng to The Daily Wire.

Moreover, Supreme Court justices serve life terms.

Most recently, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg served on the bench until her death in 2020.

She was 87 years old when she passed.

And the tests should be “annual,” Cassidy suggested.

"We each have a sacred responsibility to the people of the United States.

"It is not about me. It is about my ability to serve the people.”

Former White House physician Ronny Jackson said back in August that Biden was not cognitively fit for office.

Jackson, who served under the Obama and Trump administrations, posted in a tweet following a Biden speech: “That was embarrassing.

"There is something so obviously wrong with Biden’s cognitive fitness it was hard to watch.

"He should NOT remain President for another SECOND.

"We deserve better – MUCH better.”

“Biden’s speech yesterday was bizarre,” the doctor added.

“His cognitive decline is on full display, and the results have been disastrous. Our nation can’t take this ANY longer.”

As highlighted by The Daily Wire, Jackson told Fox New’s Jesse Watters at the time that Biden was not “cognitively fit to be our commander in chief.”

“And of course, I hoped that was wrong, but I’m not,” Jackson said, referring to his past declarations about Biden’s cognitive fitness.

“And we’re seeing it played out on the international stage right now.

"He’s destroying the reputation of this country.

"He’s getting Americans killed.

"There’s … American blood being shed in Afghanistan again, for the first time in many, many, many months.

"And it’s not going to be the last, you’re right.”
