CNN's Don Lemon: Trump Supporters Should Face 'Consequences' for Believing Trump Won
Host says MAGA has lost touch with reality
CNN anchor Don Lemon has argued that Trump supporters should face "consequences" for believing that President Donald Trump won the 2020 election.
Lemon said such a belief was not "reality" and damaging to democracy.
"There is one political party in this country that is working on reality, and that is the Democratic Party," Lemon said.
"But even in that, they're not governing very well at the moment.
"They are not performing the duty of being good politicians in the moment."
"They don't see the urgency of what is happening across the country with voting rights, the urgency of what is happening with the big lie," he added.
"They are still operating on thinking that 'Oh, everything is normal. You know, we've got to play politics, as usual'," he continued.
"It's not politics as usual.
"What is happening of the right is not politics as usual."
"What is happening on the right is not right. It's wrong."
"They should pay the consequences for what they're doing to our democracy, the damage they're doing to our democracy, and the damage they're doing to this republic."
"We listen to the fringes too much.
"The fringes have the loudest voices.
"The fringes all the way on the right have the loudest voices.
"The people who are not, you know, playing with reality, the Trumpers, we listen to them too much."
"I'm telling you, if you're Republican and you care about what is happening in this country, you need to get on the Democrat side to get your party in order.
"That is the only way to fix it."
Last month, Representative Adam Kinzinger Trump's claims he won the 2020 election would lead to another riot like on the Capitol on January 6
"On January 5, we never imagined that January 6 the level of dead would happen, although a lot of us predicted violence up to that day," he said.
"That's the if you floor now.
"So when you look at online rhetoric and chatter that's happening, and you look at maybe 100 people post insane comments like bring out the gallows, even if only two of those out of 100 are serious, that leads to violence."
Earlier this month, Trump said he believed the officials would "decertify" the 2020 presidential election.
The 45th president told The Gateway Pundit:
"I do believe they are going to decertify the election."
"They know it was rigged," Trump said.
